In the 1960’s there was a period of great upheaval in the world as the civil rights movement came to life. A huge wave of civil disobedience was practiced and it gave birth to many new ideas, including the idea that every person on this planet was entitled to one freedom. For some people, it meant equal access to housing, but for others it meant the right to use a bathroom. One idea that took off was that of having a ‘progressive’ darwin bathroom renovations that would give equal importance to a persons comfort as well as hygiene.
Darwin bathroom renovations – Many new ideas!!
During these years, Stanley R. Dyson made a name for himself by creating the ‘Dysonian’ design. The philosophy of the Dysonian design is based on the theory that water should not be wasted in any part of the bathroom and rather should be distributed equally. This was the beginning of many innovative ideas for bathroom renovations.
One idea was the replacement of the toilet seat with one that was fitted with an inflatable seat that would be inflated when used. Another idea involved replacing the toilet bowl with a glass bowl instead. Another idea involved the creation of a toilet that would have a sensor attached to it which would tell the owner of the bathroom when he had to use the toilet. The owner could then sit back comfortably as the sensor would send an electric current down the drain in case the user did not need to go to the bathroom. These bathroom renovations were very progressive at the time, as they were a break from the tradition of ‘keeping up with the Jones”.
